Spend a Day ‘Upcountry’

Be sure to visit ‘upcountry’, which is the area part way up the Haleakala volcano. At about 3000′ elevation, the views of the island and surrounding ocean are wonderful, the breezes cool and refreshing, and the things to do many! Consider a visit to the Tedeshi Winery www.mauiwine.com. Stop on the way for some great coffee and homemade desserts at Grandma’s Coffeehouse www.grandmascoffee.com. Helicopter Tours

Several companies offer tours in various price ranges. Many folks like to take a trip early in their visit, and then later travel by car to interesting places they have seen from the air.

Snorkeling With the Turtles

There are many places to snorkel, and equipment can be rented very inexpensively at Snorkel Bob’s, with stores in several locations on the island. They are very accommodating, and can tell you where all the best spots are. The fish treat you like ‘one of their own’ when you are out there.

Lahaina!

One of the early capitals of Hawaii and a historic whaling and seafaring town, Lahaina is a fun attraction a short drive from our condo. Lots of great Lahaina info can be found here. Visit on Friday evening for ‘Art Night’ and enjoy a glass of wine at one of the many galleries. Entertainment, many restaurants (from familiar national brands you will recognize from home to one-of-a-kind local treasures offering special local treats), shopping, souvenir hunting, beautiful ocean views, and more await you. Don’t miss the Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant. Click here for details.
